EX-CAIRNS ITINERARY

Day 1: Kuranda Day Tour
Make your visit to Kuranda a memorable one from door to door. One of our luxury coaches will collect you from your accommodation and transfer you to the railway station to board the Kuranda Scenic Rail. This breathtaking journey on one of the world’s most scenic train routes will take you through hand-hewn tunnels and across bridges with amazing views. Stop at Barron Gorge to view the Falls before arriving at beautiful Kuranda station. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the “Village in the Rainforest”. Visit the Heritage Markets, which operate daily, or perhaps visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Birdworld or the Kuranda Koala Gardens (own expense). At the scheduled time, board Skyrail for the world’s most beautiful rainforest experience. Glide over the Rainforest canopy and take advantage of the two stops enroute to enjoy a walk through the rainforest or visit the CSIRO Interpretive Centre. Your journey ends at Caravonica Lakes where your coach is waiting to take you back to your accommodation. (Meals & accommodation at own expense)

Day 2: Cape Tribulation Day Tour
Join Down Under Eco Tours for a day exploring the rainforest and amazing landscapes of the Cape Tribulation wilderness area. Your informative and knowledgeable driver/guide will collect you from your accommodation and travel one of Australia’s great scenic Highways before arriving at the Daintree River. We then cross the Daintree River and continue on to the Daintree Environmental Centre for a refreshing morning tea. Here an expert guide will take you on a boardwalk whilst explaining some of the fascinating secrets of one of the world’s oldest rainforests. After the walk, guests can learn more through theatre presentations and the interactive displays, or obtain a closer look at life in the rainforest by ascending the Rainforest Canopy Tower. Afterwards, we continue onto Cape Tribulation Beach while your driver explains the rich history of the area. Walk the beach or boardwalk and relax in this tranquil setting. Our next stop is for lunch in a rainforest setting. Relax and enjoy the delicious food, and maybe a glass of wine. We then return to the Daintree River, with a stop enroute to enjoy the panoramic view from Alexandra Lookout. Re-crossing the river, we join a calm water cruise of this important waterway observing the wildlife that inhabits this environment. Your guide will point out the different types of wildlife and plants that make their home along the river. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive and fearsome estuarine saltwater crocodile! The cruise terminates in Daintree Village, where you will board your coach for the return journey to Cairns, stopping at beautiful Mossman Gorge enroute. Arrive back at your accommodation after an informative and fascinating day with Down Under Eco Tours. (Meals & accommodation at own expense).

Day 3: Passions cruise to Michaelmas Cay
Passions of Paradise is a fast, modern 25 meter maxi-catamaran which sails daily to Michaelmas Cay and the Great Barrier Reef. We take you to the best locations with the friendliest crew. Michaelmas Cay is an unspoilt paradise recognized internationally as one of the most important bird nesting sanctuaries on the Great Barrier Reef. Host to over 20,000 sea birds, this unique and fragile ecosystem combines brilliant white sand with colourful soft coral, warm shallow water and an abundance of marine life. Perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, glass bottom boat tours or just relaxing on the beach. Our second destination is to the Outer Barrier Reef, where we have our own exclusive mooring at Breaking Patches, called Paradise Reef (hence no crowds). Here you will find the beautiful hard coral gardens that the Outer Reef is famous for. (Includes lunch, morning & afternoon tea)

Day 4-6: Cairns to Alice Springs
